According to "reliable sources," Representative Jason Chaffetz will announce this afternoon that he will not be running against Senator Orrin Hatch, multiple mainstream media outlets began reporting around 2 p.m., today.

Chaffetz has called a press conference for 4 p.m. Mountain, today, to make the announcement official. I think this fact says more than any anonymous, "reliable sources," the mainstream reports allude to.

I do find it interesting that the mainstream media can't agree on Jason Chaffetz age. For the record, KSL, he's 44 right now.

Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me.
Fool me thrice, welcome to politics.
Very few people noticed that the Stone Patrolmen podcast stopped. It happened so soon after it started. We had what we felt was a great idea (and ideal) for our show. It's a lot of work to put it together. Sadly, we didn't last; while producing episodes 2, 3, 4 and possibly 5, some of us decided that we just didn't want to do this right now and so it ended.

So, what's next? Clearly, what was next is that the website simply sat motionless for two years. Is that really it? Nothing? Well, yes, for a time and now perhaps something else can come along. Something useful and fun, but it also should be worthwhile. if you're not having fun and being worthwhile at the same time, it's not likely to have any real staying power.

Now I want to do something useful with stonepatrolmen.com. Here's the idea: Just begin again, but use a different method. I'm not going to produce a podcast at this time. It's still in my thoughts and I would love to bring it back someday, but for now, let's just write. There are so many interesting Political, Technological and Scientific questions and problems to talk about.

Welcome to the new Stone Patrolmen.
